Making travel safer for the very young

Ensuring that children can get around safely is a major challenge, requiring special organisation. Aximum supports you with a global analysis of each environment and effective systems. Behavioural and traffic flow studies, organisation to improve visibility, systems to increase the vigilance of children and drivers alike, safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists, are just some of the solutions that can be deployed to keep children safe.

Signposting children’s areas

Signposting children’s areas

Appropriate signage is needed to ensure that road users are as alert as possible when approaching an area frequented by children, such as a school, playground or sports complex.

A wide range of solutions are available to meet the organisation and signage needs of these areas:

  • Regulatory signage for the Advantage or Seduction ranges is available for all types of danger, mandatory or information signs
  • Reinforced LED regulatory signage signs to complement statutory signs and increase road users’ vigilance by highlighting the message with a luminous device
  • Totems Albatros or Sesalys and signage with specific regulatory signs: a ‘child safety’ illustration attracts attention and informs motorists of the presence of children.

Our teams can advise you on the solutions to be implemented for the supply of products or the overall management of the design and installation of your facilities.

Making the space easier to understand with animated markings

Making the space easier to understand with animated markings

Some pedestrian areas and areas where people meet require special organisation to remind people that pedestrians have absolute priority over all vehicles. Animated markings are recognised tools for encouraging drivers to slow down and be aware that these areas are frequently used by pedestrians and children

Aximum offers a wide range of surfaces, paints and prefabricated regulatory signs to identify these areas and liven up the public space. These solutions can also be used to create fun and recreational markings in schools, playgrounds or sports complexes.
Our teams will be with you every step of the way whether it’s for increasing vigilance, making it easier for people to find their way around, channelling the flow of younger pedestrians or creating a fun activity. This organisation contributes to safer and more pleasant cities and encourage people to walk.

Encouraging ecomobility in schools

Pedibus and Velobus schemes are being developed to channel and supervise groups of children along the same route, thereby reducing the risks associated with traffic and reducing the use of cars for school-to-home journeys. Our customisable, child-friendly markings make it possible to mark school routes safely and effectively. Aximum can help you set up these systems.

Thanks to their expertise in the study of movements and traffic flows our teams can also collect data on vehicle, pedestrian and cyclist traffic (counting, speed, etc.), accidentology and behavioural studies to help you define the most appropriate traffic and urban development plans. This makes it possible to define the safest school routes and encourage active modes of travel.

All these solutions help reduce road congestion around schools, improve air quality and traffic flow.

Making pedestrian crossings safer

Making pedestrian crossings safer

To improve safety in high-risk areas, Aximum has developed Vigigrip, a very high-grip surface that significantly reduces braking distances , even on wet roads. This surface, used upstream of pedestrian crossings, contributes to greater road user safety, particularly for children, when crossing roads.
In addition to the Vigigrip surface, we recommend reinforcing the contrast zone of the pedestrian crossing with a high-adhesion white marking surface, combined with the Indasquartz gravel surface. This organisation allows motorists to anticipate the perception of the pedestrian crossing and adapt their speed.

The visibility of the white stripes can also be increased thanks to interactive light-emitting marking by Flowell, an innovative solution that illuminates pedestrian crossings, influencing behaviour and making journeys safer. Using presence detection or synchronisation with traffic lights, Flowell sends out the right message at the right time. Our teams offer you a turnkey service for the design and installation of the Flowell solution.

Separating pedestrian and traffic flows

Separating pedestrian and traffic flows

Aximum Travaux teams can help you choose and install city barriers. The installation of protective barriers can be used to define and demarcate areas clearly and restrict vehicle access to certain zones, such as a shopping street or a school exit, by separating traffic lanes and pedestrian areas. Installed along kerbs, the barriers channel children and make them feel safer, while also helping to limit obstructive parking, which can impair the visibility of road users, particularly around pedestrian crossings. Our teams are also at your disposal to install the best products in compliance with the rules of implementation while respecting the environment and all the people concerned during the construction phase.
